Will you make a difference?

Check out this video. It's pretty inspiring.

Not to mention it's put out by apple...the superior computer by far. If anyone wants to contribute to the "purchase Mark a new apple powerbook fund", please see, well...me.

On a serious note...your thoughts on the video?

Well, you know me, I'd contribute to "purchase Mark anything." Ha!

I loved the video! Very inspiring! There were so many images we could talk about. I'll start the ball rolling with just one, and I hope others will weigh in, too.

I remember Martin Luther King well! (Yes, I'm old.) I know he wasn't perfect (he apparently had a sexual addiction),but he seemed to have fought his demons bravely MOST of the time, and no one can deny that God certainly used him mightily in the civil rights movement. You youngsters don't remember ever seeing a water fountain labeled "Whites Only," but I did when I was in college, at a bus station in Oklahoma. It made me sick to my stomach. The worst part was that I was traveling with my African-American roommate, and I was seeing it through her eyes. I took my blond hair and white skin and pranced straight over to drink from the "Coloreds" one, even though I wasn't thirsty.

I think it's a tie between your lovely nameless wife's disco video and this one. Hers had a more catchy tune, which I enjoy playing when I need a break to lighten up at work, but I must admit I relate better to this one.

Thanks for sharing it!

Is it a coincidence that most "round pegs" end up in the creative arts department at some point in their lives?

"Summer," I laughed out loud when I saw your screen name and tied it to your occupation! (I heard Sean call you that once in choir!)

To me MLK was a great man because I really think it was his love for Jesus that led him to stand against the Black Panthers when they were screaming "Black Power," as well as turning the other cheek when whites abused him.

He always preached nonviolence, which seemed very Jesus-like to me, even before I knew Jesus personally.

Listen to this from his "I Have a Dream" speech: "In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred." He never did. It's so ironic and sad that he was killed by violence, but heaven is richer, and he's free at last.

Ella Wheeler Wilcox said "To sin by silence when we should protest makes cowards out of men." I think that's what this video was about. It takes incredible courage to believe that YOU can change the world and really, REALLY make a difference. Bucking the status quo, re-inventing reality (if you will) and thinking progressively...living deliberately. Now we're gettin' somewhere!
